The traffic police in present times is equipped with devices that can detect speeding, and these devices are placed at various points and distances along roads and motorways, all across the length and breadth of the United Kingdom. These devices can be in the form of cameras, or other mobile speed detection devices, and a very sensitive pieces of equipment that can record the minutest incidents of speeding offences. So, it is in our best interest not be caught speeding.

For one, speeding is dangerous, and can lead to unwanted consequences, such as arrest, which is not only embarasssing but also portrays us in a bad light and may lead to irrepairable damage to our self esteem and our reputation in the community. Therefore, avoid speeding at all costs because it may tarnish your image as a law abiding citizen.

The penalties that you might face because of speeding may be either a verbal caution by the traffic police officer; or it may be a Notice of Intended Prosecution, that you might receive through the mail; or, depending the degree of your speeding offence, you , may get a punishment of three to six penalty points ; and if the offence of speeding is even more severe , your driving liscense my be invoked and you might be disqualified from driving all together, for an indeterminate period of time.
